Compiled HTML Help Microsoft compiled HTML Help (also known as CHM help) is one of the most popular help formats for software that runs on Microsoft Windows.

Compiled HTML Help usually has a tri-pane that shows Contents, Index, and Search tabs. Usually, these tabs are on the left of the help window. It is possible to include other tabs, such as a Glossary.

To help different types of user, it is possible to include browse sequences that let people navigate easily through topics that are related to their problems. For example, in accounting software, the compiled HTML Help can contain a browse sequence for 'year-end procedures'.
