Quick reference (wall chart example)
Many different forms of printed quick reference material are available, for example, posters, laminated cards, and keyboard overlays.
Wall charts (posters) are suitable for displaying a relatively large quantity of information that is frequently required by users.
The EMIS Clinical EDI wall chart won third place in the ISTC 1999 Documentation Awards (Class C, Creative Documentation).
It shows the primary screens for the EMIS Clinical EDI system. Most of the users are GPs, although some of the tasks that the chart refers to are sometimes performed by administrative or IT staff.
The wall chart was designed to be displayed in GPs' surgeries. Therefore, it contains bright and cheerful colours. It reminds users of the most frequent tasks that they need to do. The related user guide contains full details of the tasks.
