Quick reference (wall chart example)
Many different forms of paper-based quick reference material are available, for example, posters, laminated cards, and keyboard overlays.
Wall charts (posters) are suitable for displaying a relatively large amount of information that is frequently required by users.
The EMIS Clinical EDI wall chart won third place in the ISTC 1999 Documentation Awards (Class C, Creative Documentation).
It shows the main screens for the EMIS Clinical EDI system. Most of the users are GPs, although some of the tasks that the chart refers to are sometimes performed by administrative or IT staff.
The wall chart was designed to be displayed in GPs' surgeries and so contains bright and cheerful colours. It acts as a reminder of the main tasks to be performed. The related user's guide contains full details of these tasks.
